Clemons
Heads To Kentucky Looking For Revenge
Sparta,
Kentucky -- July 6, 2004
ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie Josh Clemons will return to
Kentucky Speedway this weekend looking to bounce back from his
disappointing finish at the 1.5 mile oval in May.
After qualifying
a career best of fifth in only his second ARCA RE/MAX Series
start,
the New Albany,
Indiana native muscled his way towards the lead. However,
while racing in the top-ten, the No. 41 USM Ford Taurus developed
engine problems.
With the team
taking several stabs trying to correct
the problem, Clemons was forced to park his machine for the night
finishing 28th completing 81 of the scheduled 137 markers.
"We had
high hopes for the race in May, we were fast all weekend, and had a
tremendous car during the race before encountering engine problems,
I hope we’re fast again this weekend, without the demons,"
said the former NASCAR AutoZone (All-Pro) driver.
Returning with
the Clemons Racing team, is primary sponsor USM (United States of
Mind) Productions.
USM is to
provide fundraising opportunities using the cast and roster of 24
recording labels & publishing houses, three weekly televisions
shows, and the production companies that produce them, to generate a
large, effective, responsive group that uses cause based marketing,
public service announcements, and charity projects to promote the
music and TV shows, and to have all ten programs "self
funding" by fourth quarter, 2004.
"I’m very
pumped up to be working with USM again this weekend at
Kentucky," continued Clemons. "They are a great
organization to represent, and I’m very excited about our
future."
Prior to
Kentucky, Clemons debuted his ARCA RE/MAX Series team at Nashville
Superspeedway in April, with spectacular results. After
notching the seventh fastest time in qualifying, Clemons raced in
the top-ten for the majority of the night, before crossing the line
ninth, a career best for the former Go-Kart driver.
"We would
like to return to Kentucky this weekend itching for the same kind of
success we had at Nashville," he added. "USM
deserves a lot of credit to our early success, not to mention a
powerful rookie team that continues to build in strength, and
maturity."
In addition to
United States of Mind, Sky Spy, Cybertek
Engineering, and Tech Star Design and Manufacturing have joined the No. 41 machine as
associate sponsors for the weekend.
"I cannot
thank my associate sponsors enough, they are very important to me,
and play a huge part in our program," explained Clemons, who
hopes to compete in the NASCAR Busch Series later this season, while
attempting to run for Rookie-of-the-Year honors in 2005.
More importantly, Josh would like to flood the ARCA
RE/MAX Series teams, drivers, and crews about helping the
Children's Hospital Foundation benefiting Kosair Children's
Hospital. Located in Louisville, Kentucky, Kosair Children's
Hospital is the only freestanding, full-service children’s
hospital in the region. "The Kosair Children’s Hospital is
very important to me," he explained. "It’s about the
kids who are struggling with life-threatening illnesses, I had the
opportunity to hang out with them a couple weeks ago, and it’s
something I won’t ever forget, these kids are my heroes."
If
all goes according to plan this weekend, Josh Clemons and his
ever-powerful Clemons Racing team will
once again be a factor as the
ARCA RE/MAX Series motors into Kentucky Speedway.
The Kentucky 150
on 700 WLW Pole Night is the 12th of 22 events on the 2004 ARCA
RE/MAX Series schedule. For the second week in a row, the teams will
endure another one-day show. First round practice is on tap
Friday morning with qualifying also on the agenda this Friday
afternoon July 9th, with the race set to take the green flag that
night. The Speed Channel will broadcast the race live, starting at
8:00pm EST.
