Clemons
Returns To Salem; Presence Will Be Known
New Albany, Indiana Sept. 14, 2005- - While
it’s been an unexpected quiet season for ARCA driver Josh Clemons, he’ll
return to his home track of Salem Speedway this weekend looking to repeat
his stout performance from last year’s fall event which saw Josh conquer
several problems through the race but finish a career-best fifth.
Clemons tried to master the ½ mile bullring earlier this
year in his first start of the 2005 season and appeared to being do so.
He practiced 16th before putting out a quick lap of 17.733 seconds or
111.656 MPH in qualifying, good enough for the eighth position. With
sights set on the front, Clemons used his head and began the march.
Unfortunately, on lap 65 his hopes were erased and the No. 41 Ford Taurus
was involved in an accident, leaving the Clemons Racing team with a
disappointing 28th place finish.
“We’ve experienced the good and bad of
Salem
,” said the driver of the No. 41 Ford Taurus Josh Clemons. “Last
year’s race was a night I won’t soon forget, while this year’s race is
one that I want to erase from my memory. We’ll have the same car
that we raced in last year’s event, so if I keep my nose clean, I should
be okay.”
The key to short track racing is staying out of the mess.
The team will head into
Salem
looking to make their third ARCA start of the season. Practice times
are important but not crucial. Qualifying is essential. If you
qualify upfront, you usually stay there. Once you're in the field, the
mode shifts. Race mode, it’s all or nothing.
“We had a car good enough to win the race last year and
just had some problems. The night race is a lot of fun, its more fun when
you have a fast car. We’re expecting our performance to hopefully be
flawless.
The team heads into the final short track event of the
season sponsorless. The team has worked around the clock trying to
obtain a supporter that would allow Clemons Racing to show their true
potential, but unfortunately nothing has yet developed. “Getting a
sponsor is a long process and we’re still looking,” continued Josh.
Following
Salem, Josh will make an appearance at "Cruisin' in to Guerin
Woods" on September 24, 2005 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. This event is being
held at
8037 Unruh Drive
,
Georgetown
,
IN
(on the Providence House for Children Campus, off State Road 64). Josh
will be signing autographs and posing for pictures at this fun afternoon of
Classic Cars and Street Rods. There will be kid's activities, music,
food, raffles, and more.
“I’m looking forward to attending “Cruisin’ in to
Guerin Woods,” explained Clemons. “Whether it’s racecars or show
cars I love it all. There will be some charity work going on as well,
so I encourage anyone in the area to come out and see us.”
Clemons Racing is still actively seeking sponsorship for
this weekend’s event. Anyone interested in primary or associate
placement on the No. 41 Ford Taurus should contact Rowena Clemons at ClemonsRacer14@aol.com
or 502-939-3743.
The Eddie Gilstrap Motors Fall Classic 200 by Advance
Auto Parts is the 22nd of 23 events on the 2005 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule.
The teams will endure another one-day show with practice, qualifying and
racing all set for one day. Practice will being shortly after 1:00pm,
with Pork pole qualifying set for 4:00pm with the race set to take center
action shortly after 8:15pm EST. Unfortunately, the race won’t be
telecasted live, but information on the results, race schedule and entry
list please visit http://www.arcaracing.com
